When you have a young family you often need a change of job to enable you to work around your family, which can usually mean the need to gain new qualifications or skills. Learning from home is a great advantage to a mother. Learning new skills to be able to successfully return to work after raising a family is often a problem for mother's that need to arrange learning around family commitments. Don’t overwork – be prepared to say ‘that’s enough’.
Do set aside a regular time to study each week.You’ll find it easier to fit in study time if you do.
Do involve your family, friends and colleagues and let them know how they can support you while you do the course.
Do read the tasks carefully before you get started to make sure you don’t end up wasting time doing the wrong thing.
Don’t panic if it’s hard to remember everything at first.Give yourself time to absorb new information.
Do start each study session with some quick revision.The more you recap what you have already covered, the quicker it will go into your long-term memory.
Try to keep all your course books, materials and notes organised and in a safe place when you’re not using them.This will make it much easier to pick up where you left off and you won’t waste time hunting for the things you need.
