Tetra Pak and WWF-UK re-launch renewability website with fun
Tree-Vital Pursuits quiz
Tetra Pak and WWF-UK have today re-launched the ‘RenewableIdea.co.uk’ website. The website is part of the ongoing partnership between the two organisations which aims to raise awareness and understanding of renewability*, and highlight the importance of choosing goods made from responsibly managed ‘renewable’ sources.
The re-launched website features exciting new content including Tree-Vital Pursuits – a daily quiz for players to test their environmental knowledge and make a difference, while having fun. For every correct answer players are also entered into a fortnightly prize draw for the chance to win some fantastic prizes. The quiz links to a donation counter which converts the points players generate into donations from Tetra Pak to WWF-UK. Players can also generate points by making a pledge to ‘choose renewable’ or by sharing content with their friends and family via Facebook or Twitter.
The money raised from the donation counter will help to support a WWF vital conservation project in the Russian Caucasus. WWF-UK’s Forest & Trade Network manager, Julia Young commented:
“The Russian Caucasus boasts a unique mixture of species yet has a worrying lack of sustainable forest management. Tetra Pak has committed to support the growth of FSC forest management in critical forest habitats, and together we are aiming to raise awareness of the need to manage production of forests as renewable resources to provide economic, social and environmental benefits for the foreseeable future."
Tetra Pak and WWF-UK began working together in April 2010. The partnership began with a competition to find the nation’s favourite ‘renewable idea’. The winner was Nick Williams, a part-time teacher from Wolverhampton, with his idea to run a national, schools-based competition to design an image which represents renewability. Speaking after he was told he had won, Nick Williams said:
“It is fantastic to have been chosen above all the other entries in Tetra Pak and WWF-UK’s competition. I have worked with children for a long time and am sure that designing an image will get them really excited and thinking about the everyday actions they can take to help protect the environment and live in a more sustainable way.”
