Twenty Weeks Pregnant
Twenty weeks ago you were on nobody’s mind, But as you grow inside me, you’re on mine all the time. The days passed by without purpose; always alone, That existence has changed now, as I’m never on my own. Some days I’m excited making preparations and decisions, Some days I just worry my whole life is heading for collision. One minute I’m painting your nursery with my head full of dreams, Then I am filled with anxious questions; so many I could scream. Are you all right in there? Will you be born fit and well? What does your crying mean? Hungry? Hot? Cold? – How can I tell? Breastfeeding – will we master that? Returning to a size 12 instead of fat? Will I relax when you are sleeping? Or be on edge watching you breathing? What if your tears won’t stop and I lose my temper? Does everyone expect it of me? This is all new remember! Will I manage to balance my career and you? Juggling the duties of housewife and mummy too? Will I still be ‘Charli’ to all of my friends? What will I do if my social life ends? Will Jodie still be here as much as before? Will Liz want to do coffee or am I a bore?

He says there will probably be some difficult days. But we will work together and share the new jobs you create He loves you so much; Daddy is going to be great. I can relax now I have offloaded my fears, It’s the hormones you see, its all laughter and tears. You are one lucky baby; being loved so much by so many, Preconceptions and worries – I really don’t have any. Just four months to wait now for a family of three, Well actually four, Daddy, Smirny (our dog), you and me.
