You can spend lots of money on buying different beds at all stages of baby's development or buy just one cot bed that will last her right through till age 4, It is a personal choice to make.
Mum’s Mission To Rid Web of Fake Baby Product Reviews
A mum of two has launched a one-woman crusade to rid the internet of fake baby product reviews.
Amanda Miles says phoney reviews of items such as prams are making it difficult for mums and dads to make informed purchasing choices.
She hopes to combat the growing number of fake online reviews which are often written by company insiders singing their own praises. Now she has launched her own site MumsPages.com and is determined only genuine independent reviews of high street and online buys will be featured.
Twenty nine year old Amanda from North West London came up with the idea when she was six months pregnant with her second daughter Ava and was searching the web for pram reviews.
Fed up of not being able to find the reviews she was looking for in one place, she decided to do something about it and develop her own website. Amanda was also alarmed by the number of fake reviews she was reading and felt there was nothing independent that she could really trust.
She launched MumsPages.com which allows parents to post reviews on baby and toddler products. Reviewers are encouraged to include a photo of their purchase and are given a star rating.
Amanda said: “Buying all the equipment you need for a baby and toddler is pretty expensive. Before Ava was born I easily spent over £3,000. Almost a third of that was on a pram and travel system. That’s a vast sum of money, and for me, being unable to find all the reviews I needed in one place seemed crazy.
“I was astonished by the number of fake reviews I was reading. Those made up by the companies were so obvious and as a result, it made it really difficult to trust other reviews posted alongside. I was always questioning whether I was reading the real thing, and whether the product I was looking into was really as good as I thought.”
Amanda is hoping to encourage big retailers to get involved by carrying her logo and asking its customers to post reviews on MumsPages.com.
“By partnering with big retailers, it means they’ll be able to find out what their customers really think. They’ll also have the right to reply, so if someone believes the service has been poor, they have the chance to do something about it. Research has shown that 84% of people are more than likely to read online reviews before buying than 12 months ago, and that 81% of consumers use reviews when making their buying decisions.
Amanda believes cutting out fake reviews will be a real bonus for parents and wants to build MumsPages into the site mums can really trust when wanting to make an informed decision over a purchase.
Amanda continued: “All parents want to do the best and buy the best they can afford for their children so being able to read well balanced, honest reviews is a must. Finding out what other parents think is really helpful and helps eliminate shoddy products.”
Initial feedback on MumsPages has been positive both from other mums and people working within the baby and toddler sector.
Amanda concludes: “I’m confident the site will catch on and will prove to be a useful resource – in fact the next big thing when it comes to useful information for parents. As a mum I know what other mums are looking for and know how important it is, especially with your first child, to get hold of as much information as you can before buying or doing anything.
“Having everything in one place will certainly save time and effort and by cutting out the fake reviews, parents can be sure what they’re reading in independent and most importantly, true.”

The arrival of a new baby is always an exciting time in any family. Parents bristle with pride as they introduce their newborn child to friends and family. Photos are taken and sent, visitors come and go and most importantly a name is chosen. However, as the novelty wears off things quickly get complicated.
The shopping list for new parents is pretty standard. First are the maternity clothes and books. Next are items for the baby itself; most importantly it will need somewhere to sleep. So as parents start to decorate the nursery, cots are usually top of the shopping list. If you own a car, a car seat is a must, not to mention buggies and prams. Consequently those first few months are occupied with the big decisions of blue vs. pink? Which cot is best? Should I go for a buggy or a pram? Which make of nappy is best?
